Over 40 years ago, Gerard Roemer and Jan van Charante founded Sidewalk Cafe ‘t Vat. A bar restaurant where locals would head over to on a Saturday afternoon for a drink and something to eat. Famously known for being at the center of the Paramaribo Entertainment Area and being open 365 days a year for a beer and chicken satay, ‘t Vat has also become the place to go to watch all major sport events and to celebrate ‘Owru Yari’ in December. Whether it is to grab a quick lunch, set up a business meeting or enjoy a drink or a night out, ‘t Vat is the place to be.
After completing his specialization in Occupational Health in the Netherlands, van Charante founded the Occupational Health Foundation, to deliver preventive Healthcare focusing on the Safety, Health, and Wellbeing of workers. In over 30 years, the Foundation has not only provided courses and educational opportunities in the Occupational Health industry, but also helped design, implement and improve Health products and services for major local and international corporations.
In order to create a more inclusive hospitality experience, Zeelandia Suites opened its door for the public in March 1997. As the neighborhood develops, the small picturesque Business Suite Hotel transitions its identity, keeping its familiar colonial style look, but also creating a modern feel, with a small pool area as its latest addition. The personal service and importance of internet access remains, with a little touch of convenience added.
As ‘t Vat grows as a Paramaribo hotspot, it joins the Europcar International Franchise, leading to the birth of Europcar Suriname and Europcar Guyana, providing quality car rental in both countries. Long term leasing has shown to be attractive especially when capital is needed to invest in the core business instead of the purchasing of cars, to be assured of replacement cars and preventing the hustle to sell second hand cars when contracts expire.
In order to further expand its business, NV TON undergoes the second major renovation at the Kleine Waterstraat 1, adding two more floors with a rooftop expansion, offering more space to rent out and partner with other companies. Open for partnerships and renting out space, NV TON also offers in house hospitality services as well, adding De Verdieping to its portfolio, which started a delivery and pick up food service during the Covid-19 pandemic, while now expanding towards a certified full service business space.
With the digital age taking over and Social Media becoming a major part of corporate communication, INEFFABLE NV was founded in 2016 to provide companies with a more relatable approach, bridging the gap between corporate goals and the community’s brand perception. INEFFABLE serves organizations in the Caribbean, Europe and the US with Social Media and Online Marketing strategy and operational services and is the host of the annual Social Media Conference Suriname.
